Unlocking Recruitment Insights: Highlights from the APSCo OutSource & UK Leadership & Innovation Event at LinkedIn HQ

This morning, we had the pleasure of hosting our bi-annual APSCo UK & OutSource Leadership & Innovation Event at LinkedIn’s prestigious London offices. It was a gathering of industry leaders, Trusted partners, and members, coming together to explore the latest trends, challenges, and innovations in outsourcing and recruitment. Traditional business models must evolve, and today’s event highlighted the transformative approaches that are shaping the future of our industry.

Exclusive LinkedIn Report: Fresh Insights for Our Members

The event kicked off with a powerful presentation by Adam Hawkins and Audrey Lartey from LinkedIn. In an exciting twist, the report they presented was delivered to them at 2 AM this morning, giving our members the exclusive opportunity to be the first to see these fresh insights—well before they become publicly available at the end of November.

The report, based on insights from over 2,500 C-suite recruitment leaders across the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United States, emphasised the rapid pace of technological change and the strategic shifts leaders must make to remain competitive.

Here are some of the key insights that resonated with us:

  • Embrace Technology: AI and automation have become essential tools for optimizing recruitment processes and strengthening employer brands, far beyond passing trends. Now is the time to invest in a strategic plan for technology adoption that blends cutting-edge innovation with human expertise.
  • Focus on Skills: Skills-first hiring is rapidly becoming the standard approach in recruitment. Organisations that prioritise transferable skills over traditional qualifications are more likely to attract and retain top talent. Notably, 60% of employees who experience internal mobility tend to stay longer with their employers.
  • Rethink Workplace Flexibility: Despite only 11% of jobs on LinkedIn offering hybrid, flexible, or work-from-home options, these roles attract over 40% of all applications—indicating a clear preference among job seekers. People are ‘voting with their feet’ in favour of more adaptable work arrangements.
  • Global Economic Impact: With over 70 elections occurring globally, the economic landscape is facing uncertainties, leading to slowdowns in certain markets. Staffing leaders must remain agile, anticipating how these political shifts might impact hiring trends.
  • Future Skills Shift: By 2030, a staggering 68% shift in the skills required is projected. The emphasis on adaptability and lifelong learning will become critical as organisations prepare for these changes.

The one thing that resonated most? There is no such thing as business as usual anymore; it’s all about transformation as usual.

Harnessing AI for Efficiency: Insights from Nétive VMS

The second session was led by Kieran Jones, Senior Solutions Architect at Nétive VMS BV, who captivated the audience with his presentation, "Unlocking Efficiency: How AI Frees Up Your Hiring Team for What Really Matters."

Kieran discussed how AI technology can revolutionise recruitment by automating repetitive and routine tasks, freeing up valuable time for hiring teams to focus on strategic initiatives that add real value to organisations. He walked the audience through a case study from a leading client, showcasing the transformative power of AI in streamlining processes, reducing workloads, and future-proofing organisations.
